Another Wreck This Journal update.

A neat way to store/organize your hoodies :)

My DIY tutorial on how to make a hair bow without sewing (from an old shirt).

1. Materials: An old shirt (or any other fabric you prefer), scissors, and hot glue (or craft/super glue; or you could actually sew if you want).

2. Cut out a square and a thin rectangular piece according to how big you want your bow to be. As you can see, it does not need to be perfect.

3. Turn the square over (so that the inside is facing up) and fold all of the corners in so that it makes another square. Secure with glue. (I added more dots along the edges, just forgot to take a picture).

4. Turn it over and pinch together the centers of the top and bottom.

5. Take your long, rectangular piece and use that to tie where you have pinched. I used a double knot.

And you are finished with the bow! Easy, right? Now all you have to do is glue a hair clip, hair tie, bobby pin, etc. to the back and enjoy :)

PS. This doesn’t just have to be a hair bow, you can add a safety pin to it and add it to clothing, your purse, pillows, etc. It can be used for cards, decoration, anything you can think of! Be creative and I would love to see what you come up with!

I thought it would only make sense to use this page to wrap another Wreck This Journal as a gift to my fiance :)

This took me forever to set up, but it was worth all of the hard work :D

Some of the pages from my Wreck This Journal after a few days.

Hey:) so just a quick question.... do you know where I can get a wreck this journal? thanks so much!

You might have luck at your local book store, but I ordered mine from Amazon for about $8 something :)

I’ve decided to document the progress of my Wreck This Journal.
These are some pages from the first day.

Tiny Room Tips

1. Organization. This is the most important tip when dealing with a small space. For me, the easiest way to do this was to just go out and buy a bunch of containers. Even if you don’t know what you’re going to do with them, you will find a use for them once you get home. All little things (makeup, wires, papers, school supplies, photos, etc.) will be better off in a container. I got all of mine from the ¥100 store (the Japanese equivalent to a $1 store).

2. Stay Low. This is honestly a personal preference. I’ve noticed it’s more of a European/Asian thing versus an American thing, but it really makes the room appear bigger by expanding on the vertical space. This is very easy to do, especially if you’re on a budget. For the bed, I’m currently using a futon, but you can also buy a very low bed frame. Or if you’d rather not spend any money, I’ve always just used the top mattress of my bed straight on the floor. For the TV, you can buy a low TV stand or just use anything sturdy enough to put your TV on :) I just used a cheap wooden shelf unit. As you can see, that doesn’t leave a lot of room for a computer desk. I decided to keep this low to the ground as well and bought a tiny table and “chair” (I have no idea what it’s called).

3. Utilize All Space. This is mainly about the closet. Since your closet holds a good portion of your room’s space and the contents can be hidden, don’t let any of the space in there go to waste! I used drawers and a neat adjustable shelf to do this. Plus, more containers (including little laundry baskets, which I love!) For another closet idea, here’s a post of my old closet: click me :) Other than the closet, I utilized space by putting my tripod behind my door (because I never open it all the way anyway) and by using all of the space my shelf unit provides.

4. Discard Non Essentials. This should probably be done before you even start. Basically, get rid of stuff that you don’t actually need or hold sentimental value to. Throw them away, give them away to someone who might actually find a use for them, or sell them and make some money. A very small space doesn’t have room for, what my dad likes to call, “dust collectors”. You’ll also find that you’ll not only need to do this before you start, but while you’re organizing and realizing that not everything you own is going to fit comfortable in your small space.

Okay, well that’s all I’ve got for now! Good luck with your tiny rooms, I really hope this helped! If it did, send me pictures of your tiny rooms/closets :) I will be updating frequently when my fiance mails me more of my stuff (yes, more is coming into this tiny room!), but if you’d like more details of anything, let me know and I would be glad to do another post. Thanks and have a great day!
